It's not the first time we're talking about the Pogoplug devices from Cloud Engines, these multimedia streaming devices being around for quite some time now, but the company seems keen on pushing their functionality even further, the latest model, the Pogoplug Pro, offering some pretty interesting additions.
Similar to its predecessors, the Pogoplug allows users to easily and securely access, share, and stream their personal content from anywhere, without uploading.
The content is safely stored on USB hard drives connected to the Pogoplug device in their home or office, and is available from any Internet enabled device, including apps for the iPhone, Android, iPad, BlackBerry, and Palm.
What the Pro brings new to this picture is the built-in wireless connectivity (extremely important nowadays, when many users install wireless routers within their homes) while also retaining the support for up to 4 connected USB drives, also found in the Pogoplug second generation products.
"Pogoplug is a great option for those who want to quickly and securely share personal files over the Internet," said Ross Rubin, executive director of industry analysis at The NPD Group.
Pogoplug Pro is available for $99 (MSRP), which is not even that high a price, given the level of versatility it provides.
