Speaking of storage, QNAP systems seem to have been a busy bee lately, since they have recently announced that they would be upgrading their Turbo NAS Servers, as well as offering free NAS Management Software upgrades to their users. And since anything free from such a company is worthy of detailed information, guess what I will be writing about in the next few lines.

Curious as to what systems I am referring? Well, the Turbo NAS server family is an entity of NAS servers meant for every type of user, from home purpose NAS server to SMB and corporate type machines. It is currently the broadest lineup of NAS servers available on the market and, trust me, I am not exaggerating.

The new User Interface is completely compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Google Chrome, with administrators being able to choose from three different color themes, 15 languages and even an RSS feed from QNAP.

"QNAP is protecting our customer's investment in their Turbo NAS servers by continuing to offer exciting new capabilities to hardware already in the field," said Meiji Chang, CEO of QNAP Systems, Inc. "We know our customers appreciate the added value of this approach instead of forcing new hardware purchases, especially in these difficult financial times."

The 3.1 firmware has been made available for download, should you be the happy owners of one of the TS series models. You can check on the Internet to see if the model you own fits into the category of upgradeable devices. A pretty sweet deal, QNAP allowing users to upgrade for free like that. Gives you interesting insight onto what the company policy is and will probably also make a few new friends along the way.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
