Samsung's managed to really make a name for itself in the field of digital cameras over the past couple of years (after all, how could they miss such a booming segment), one very interesting device that they've pushed onto the market earlier this year being the EX1 compact digital camera, that offers users of all levels plenty of interesting features.
As you might have have guessed, the reason why we've brought this camera to your attention is that we've managed to check it out live briefly at the “
Experience Samsung Tour” event we've recently attended, and found some of its features to actually be particularly attractive for mainstream consumers.
Right from the start we'll have to mention that we really liked the overall design of the EX1, as well as its build quality, which should satisfy even those customers for whom these features are deal makers or breakers.
Another very interesting touch is represented by the controls placed on the right side of the camera, the EX1 actually featuring no less than 2 control wheels, one used for direct access to the camera's various shooting modes while the second one grants quick control over such settings as the timer or drive mode.
The shutter button is placed in front of the wheels, in the middle of the zoom controller, while yet another manual control wheel is placed underneath, on the front side of the camera.
Also notable is the presence of the hot-shoe connector on the top side, that will enable users to add various accessories to the camera.
The swiveling display is certainly one of the camera's main selling points, not only due to the fact that it grants an enhanced level of versatility when attempting to catch a certain frame, but also because its level of quality is absolutely fantastic (that doesn't really come as a surprise though, since, after all, we're dealing with an AMOLED display here).
Unfortunately, we haven't been able to really see the
Samsung camera's 1/1.7-inch CCD, F1.8 24mm ultra-wide lens, DRIMeIII imaging processor and ISO 3200 sensitivity put to work, but we certainly hope to be able to do that in the near future.
