The RC Flying Cockroach

The fear of insects is a phobia shared by a very large number of people around the world, who simply can't stand seeing the small critters anywhere near them. So, imagine how they might react when seeing a large flying cockroach approaching them. Now that would really be nasty, wouldn't it?

Well, that's exactly the purpose for which the RC Flying Cockroach presented by the Japan Trend Shop was developed. Thus, this remote controlled toy is able to “take to the skies” and then fly down unexpectedly, scaring pretty much anyone who sees it. After all, a large flying bug is not the most comforting of images, is it now?

Actually, this device is not exactly one fantastic, break-trough, never-before-seen toy. In fact, the flying cockroach is nothing more than a modified (OK, heavily modified) version of the Picoo z helicopter, a very lightweight, battery-powered flying machine. The main difference between this roach and the Picoo z is the design, the RC Flying Cockroach representing quite a vivid replica of an insect.

The device is not exactly the size of a real bug, but quite larger, since it measures around 145 x 87 x 90mm. It is accompanied by its own remote control/charger and is powered by no less than 6 x AA batteries. Unfortunately, Japan Trend Shop doesn't offer any significant information regarding the functioning life provided by the batteries, but it's most likely somewhere around 15 minutes or so.

Now, if you've really liked the RC Flying Cockroach and you know some persons you could play a prank on, then the price tag (of around 70 US dollars) doesn't even seem that high. However, be careful on whom you play this prank, because the shock might be simply too much for the persons suffering from various heart conditions.
