It slides and slithers its way into your backyard, it watches your every move and waits for the best moment to attack. You can find it anywhere, be it desert, snow or your bedroom. It is the deadliest predator that ever slid its body across the Earth. Now, it has a mechanical MiniMe developed by the Israeli military. Yes, ladies and gents, the good old snake.
While to some it might seem as the logical creature to mimic via mechanical means, it seems it took some time for the military (Israeli military, to be exact) to create a robotic snake that actually did what it was meant to do. In this case, spy on the enemy or get wired with explosives so that when it nears its target... there's only one word for the follow-up: “Kaboom!”
As you can see in the video, this gross looking camouflaged device uses snake-like movements in order to go “where no man has gone before.” That's basically in any hole, crack, recipient and so on. It is a great device to be used when fiber optics cameras just don't cut it anymore. Imagine a forest with a few of these babies roaming around. You could see anything that moves, record any action or conversation and they wouldn't even notice you were there listening the whole time.
Of course, you could be a bit more destructive and after hearing everything you wanted to hear, press a button and, like I said above, “Kaboom!” Turn it into a “suicide snake,” why don't you? It could also be used in other fields, such as underground filming, wildlife filming and so on. But then again, we all know this device will see its fair share of combat time before it is used for anything else.
