The Good

We could go on and on about what makes the Kone mouse stand out from the crowd. That is because this mouse has certainly been created with the gaming user in mind, providing them with not only a high-performance piece of hardware, but also a series of features that will certainly come in handy. As far as the Taito mouse pad is concerned, we can say that these two products should go together for an ultimate gaming experience.

The Bad

We have tried so hard to find something bad about the Kone, as throughout our review we have gained the utmost respect for the product. However, after stretching our minds for a while, we came to the conclusion that ROCCAT might have sweetened the offer by providing its customers with a choice for replacing the mouse feet, which can deteriorate quite rapidly if the owner is a gaming enthusiast.

There's hardly anything you could hold against the Taito game pad. However, we can say that you will probably not be able to take advantage of its glossy finish after a few months of use, although that is to be demonstrated.

Overall Impressions

The ROCCAT Kone gaming mouse is a product to really consider for your high-end gaming PC. We could say that, even if you aren’t a gaming enthusiast, the Kone can provide you with some features that you won’t be able to find on any other competitive product currently on the market. We can actually say that the customizable light system could easily fool you into thinking that you have a different mouse whenever the color changes. Packed along with the Taito gaming pad (which is sold separately), these two ROCCAT products should please even the most demanding of gaming users.

This mouse is terrible lol. Bought it for like £60 thinking it would at least match the tracking of my Razer Copperhead or Razer Diamondback but it simply doesn't. The mouse looks great, feels great in hand and has some really great features but if the laser doesn't work well enough its a flop in my book. I play CounterStrike Source at competition level and need a mouse which picks up every movement of the mouse from super slow sweeps to follow someone to very fast sweeps to spin 180 when someone is behind. The mouse is fine with the slow movements but when I try to spin 180 the mouse spazes out and sticks in the middle of the screen. Almost as if I paid £60 for a very cheap laser?.

Pros:
Looks great
Feels great
Customization
Lots of features

Cons:
Laser is ridiculously bad (which would render a gaming mouse useless wouldn't it?)
Very expensive for something that doesn't perform.

I would not recommend this mouse unless your sensitivity if very very VERY high, do not need fast/accurate mouse response or do not play games.
One of if not THE worst mouse I have used (and I have used many)

For BIG people with BIG hands!

Roccat is making a false claim about this product's Ergonomic Hybrid Shape. It is NOT suitable for people who use Claw Grip style as a mouse as large and as high as this forces the Palm Grip style.

There's no doubt that the Roccat Kone is a high-tech precision gaming mouse with many great features.

It has a 3200 DPI Pro-Aim Gaming Sensor to reduce Pick-Up-Flight; a TCU (Tracking Control Unit) to calibrate the laser power to match the mouse pad surface; an Integrated Turbocore to save CPU power; 128kB of Internal Memory to save up to five Game Profiles; a customisable light system with 5 LEDs capable of displaying the full spectrum of colors; and a FastClip Weight Kit to change the weight of the mouse from 118g by 5g, 10g, 15g and 20g.

But the so-called Ergonomic Hybrid Shape that is supposedly suitable for people with both claw grip or palm grip fails to impress me. If you have large hands then you should find this mouse very comfortable and easy to dominate.

However, if you're like me and have small-medium sized hands then don't be surprised if you get wrist ache and have trouble moving it quickly from side to side. My wrist ache got so bad after the first 5 days I put the Kone back in it's box and got my old faithful Razer Diamondback mouse back into action. The Razer is such a fantastic mouse; it's fast, accurate, and lightweight so you really feel in control of the mouse rather than the mouse controlling you.

In summary, if you've got big hands (Roccat is a German company) then buy the Roccat Kone, otherwise get something smaller like a Razer Diamondback.
