As you have probably noticed, I am a gamer at heart. Well, besides other things, that is. But
as a gamer, I like for all my devices to be as powerful as they come. Since notebooks never did strike me as practical when gaming was involved, I never gave them much thought. Especially since most companies producing gaming notebooks tend to use the same design: black with red and/or blue stripes. Since I am a guy that likes “custom” and “original,” the always similar design made me shun the world of gaming laptops.
Up until yesterday, when I came across these babies from a certain European company called Rock. Well, Rock has announced the Xtreme 790 and Xtreme 840 laptops that not only rely on power in order to impress but also on an interesting and fresh design that, thank God, gives up the
“flames and ice” motif, used so much in
designing gaming rigs.
The 790 has a 17-inch Full HD display and up to 1.5TB storage. It offers a choice of Intel Core i7 processors and up to 6GB of DDR3 RAM, as well as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M 1GB graphics. You will definitely be playing StarCraft 2, Diablo 3 and Crysis 2 on maximum details.
The Xtreme 840 offers the user an 18.4-inch Full HD display with a range of Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad CPUs and also two GTX 280M GPUs, should the user choose the dual GPU version. It also features up to 1.5TB of storage.
Both models have four USB 2.0 ports, 7-in-1 card reader, as well as a/b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity and a free upgrade to Windows 7. As for pricing, the Xtreme 790 starts at about 1,999 pounds (3,259 USD). Should you choose the single GPU Xtreme 840 model, it will cost you a starting price of 1,699 pounds (2,770 USD) or 2,299 pounds (3,748 USD) for the dual GPU version.
