We've already gotten used to seeing Android-based smartphones everywhere around us but Rockchip is one of the first companies to take Google's mobile operating system and install it on a video enabled desk phone.
Although the idea seems pretty bizzare, Android fits the bill really nicely since it already provides all the necessary requirements to enable video calling, so all that Rockchip had to do was to take this, get rid of the GSM support, and call it a day (OK, I know this isn't as simple as this, but you get the idea). Apart from using Android, not too many things are known about this desk-bound device, although mp4nation reports this has both landline and 3G connectivity. WiFi of Ethernet support should also be among the specifications since over the Internet video telephony is a feature desired by many users and adding such functionality would prove to be easy enough. Judging by the available pictures, a web camera and a set of pretty powerful speakers are also enclosed together to what seems to be an 7 inch display, with some touch capabilities, this phone being available in both black and white colorways. All in all, I would have to say this is just the start of Android powered devices since the open nature of Google's operating system does provide manufacturers with a powerful tool to use in their gadgets leading to the development of Android powered in-car entertainment systems or other revolutionary things of that sort. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
