Competition is always a good thing for us customers, the Apple TV announcement making companies lower the prices of their media streaming solutions, Roku releasing a whole new lineup that starts as low as $59 while their most advanced model will be available for $99.

Coming in with both WiFi and Ethernet connectivity and the capability of streaming high definition video at 720p to your HDTV either trough composite A/V or HDMI, the $59.99 Roku HD sure packs a lot of punch for such a low priced solution.

As all Roku's solutions before it, this can also stream media from Netfix, Amazon Video on Demand, MLB.TV, Pandora, MP3tunes, MOG, and RadioTimewhile while also providing access to photo and video sharing from Flickr and Facebook.

Moving on, next in line is the $79.99 Roku XD that adds 1080p video playback to the mix together with extended-range Wireless-N WiFi, this unit being surpassed in features only by the $99.99 Roku XDS.

This top of the line model comes with dual-band Wireless-N technology, component video output, optical audio output, and a USB port, an update that is going to come free of charge to XDS owners in November allowing them to use the USB port for playing stored music, photos, and 1080p video.

Both the XD and XDS units get a new remote that adds an Instant Replay button, enabling the viewer to instantly skip back in 10 second increments without having to wait for a rebuffering delay, similarly to the way this works on DVRs and other hard-drive based devices.

"We're committed to delivering the best entertainment experience at the lowest price in the industry," said Anthony Wood, founder and CEO of Roku, Inc.

"Customers can now buy an HD-capable Roku player with wireless for 40% less than the price of our original $100 Roku HD player.

Or, think of it this way: for around the price of two Blu-ray Discs, a Roku player brings you access to limitless instant streaming entertainment choices available today and in the future.

It's perfect for anyone who wants the most choice and control over their entertainment."

All three new models are available now so if your HDTV is lacking Netflix streaming make sure to check these new Roku units out, since their prices are extremely tempting.
