Well, it seems that not a day can go by without coming across some sort of gadget related to Apple's iPhone or iPod portable devices, whether we're talking about some pair of earphones or a docking station of sorts. And this is exactly the type of product we'll talk about as follows, namely the RothDock Wireless Dock/Receiver from UK-based company Roth Audio, which will stream your music from room to room wirelessly, at the same time charging your iPod/iPhone.
Of course, this is not the first device of its kind (and surely, it won't be the last), but what makes it interesting to possible customers is the fact that it's extremely easy to use. Hence, all that users will have to do is simply place their iPod/iPhone into the dock and play their music wirelessly via 2.4GHz direct to a hi fi system (while the iPod/iPhone charges).
Furthermore, if the iPhone happens to ring, the music will fade and you’ll hear the ring through the hi fi system. Plus, similar to most other devices of this type available out there, the dock has an auxiliary 3.5mm input so one can also use a music-enabled mobile phone or an MP3 player.
The dock sports a transmission power of 20mv, a 20Hz – 20KHz frequency response, as well as a 2.4GHZ operating frequency band. As far as compatibility is concerned, the manufacturer informs us that the dock supports all iPods with 30-pin connectors and the iPhone 2G and 3G.
On the other hand, the receiver comes equipped with a 3.5mm stereo jack and 2x RCA interfaces, while being able to provide a 20Hz - 20KHz frequency response. Unfortunately, its range is quite limited, of just around 10 meters.
The RothDock Wireless Dock/Receiver from Roth Audio retails for somewhere in the vicinity of 130 US dollars, which makes it a fairly affordable device, especially taking into account the features it can provide.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
