Kingston is announcing that the SSDNow Value Series just got better and faster with its second generation models that, fortunately, will be available at the same price. Mainstream users will probably find it extremely comforting to know that they can get more from their hardware while not having to spend more at the same time.
"Kingston has really
increased the performance on the new second generation SSD
Now V Series drive without raising the price. A first-generation SSD
Now V Series 64GB bundle upgrade kit can be found for about $150 (U.S.) at retailers and e-tailers so maintaining pricing will be huge for our customers," said Ariel Perez, SSD business manager, Kingston. "By bundling together all of the software, hardware and step-by-step instructions with the drive, we make it easy for everyday users to upgrade with an SSD. The addition of TRIM support is a key benefit because it enables the SSD to maintain optimal performance throughout its lifespan."
The bundle that Ariel Perez is talking about will not be the only solution of getting a V Series SSD drive from the second generation; standalone units of 30 GB, 64 GB and 120 GB will also be available. For time efficiency, however, you might want to consider the bundle as it spares you of an OS reloading or reinstalling. Thanks to the Acronis True Image cloning software that the bundle comes with, you can easily transfer all the data you need from the previous HDD or SSD.
Also, a few more practical additions are available with the bundle, like the external 2.5-inch USB SATA enclosure, if you happen to choose the notebook bundle. Both the larger capacity drives have an MTFB of 1 million hours and the 30 GB model is estimated at 500,000 working hours. These new models
will work even better on Windows 7 thanks to the TRIM function support. The
upgrade kits will start shipping on February 15.
