Similar to Sony and LG, Samsung was forced to consider very carefully what products to showcase at the IFA event in Berlin and what to keep for CEDIA, given the close proximity of the two events. So, the Korean company picked its 65-inch monster, the LN65B650 full HD model, for the latter, especially taking into account the fact that CEDIA targets mostly the installation market, where the larger the display is, the better.
The newest member of the LCD 650 Series TV family will utilize
Samsung's proprietary Auto Motion Plus 120Hz frame-interpolation technology, partnered with a quick 4ms response time, to reduce blurring caused by fast movement shown onscreen. Advanced users can also customize how Auto Motion Plus handles judder and motion blur to suit their taste.
Furthermore, the LN65B650's Ultra Clear Panel technology enhances colors and reduces glare, even in rooms with a lot of ambient light, while the Wide Color Enhancer 3 ensures accurate reproduction of colors with shows, movies, games and more, regardless of the viewing environment. Plus, the
HDTV delivers a 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, but also 15-watts x 2 (55-inch class) SRS TruSurround HD audio.
Similar to most other advanced HDTVs from
Samsung, this model also offers users multiple ways of accessing their desired content, via the Internet@TV - Content Service (available via the included Ethernet port), built-in Content Library, DLNA and USB 2.0 ports to play movies, as well 4 HDMI (HDMI-CEC) version 1.3 inputs, 2 component inputs, 2 composite inputs, 1 optical audio output and 1 PC input.
Additionally, the LN65B650 sports a Touch of Color, or ToC, design, which is produced through a dual-injection molding process that coats a translucent surface over the frame for an attractive look. The 65-inch includes a two-tone gradation of a stylish gray tone color along the curve of the bottom edge, with transparent color finishing along the bezel's outer edges.
As expected from such a monster of a TV set, the price tag is an absolutely huge one, the LN65B650 being slated to sell for somewhere in the vicinity of 6,000 US dollars when it becomes available in September.
