While we're still a couple of hours away from the official launch of the Windows Phone 7 OS (and by that we also mean the first devices that will actually run this operating system), it would seem that certain manufacturers have decided to take somewhat of an early start, with Samsung's Omnia 7 posting on the company's Russian site being one of the first such appearances.
The Omnia 7 will obviously run Microsoft's brand-new operating system for smartphones, with all of the attached functions, including support for Microsoft's Xbox LIVE and Zune for music and video, Metro UI, A-GPS, Bing Map, Bing Search.
However, since we've talked time and time again about the OS (which is not exactly a great novelty, Microsoft parading its features on quite a few occasions), we'll now do something a bit different, namely talk mostly about the tech specs Samsung's GT-I8700 model has to offer.
So, as expected, the handset packs a 4,0-inch SUPER AMOLED display with WVGA (800x480 pixels) resolution and is powered by the Qualcomm QSD8250 1GHz processor.
The device supports HSUPA 5.76 MB / sec. / HSDPA 7,2 Mb / sec. (900 / 1 900 / 2 100 MHz) EDGE / GPRS (850 / 900 / 1 800 / 1 900MHz) networks, while also featuring Bluetooth, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi b/g/n interfaces.
In terms of video and multimedia,
Samsung's Omnia 7 also has a few interesting surprises up its sleeve, featuring a 5MP camera module with autofocus and being able to record 720p videos at 25 fps.
Playback support is also quite extensive, since we're talking about H.264, H.263, MPEG4, WMV videos, MP3 / AAC / AAC + / eAAC + / WMA / AMR-NB / AMR-WB / MIDI audio files, plus a built-in FM-radio with RDS.
Naturally, pricing details have not been provided just yet, but we'll try to come back with these pieces of information as soon as possible.
