If you are competing in a market where another company (or two, or even three) has already established a foothold, it is not necessarily by innovation that you can succeed but by making a product with features common to others but that are very well implemented in yours. I guess this is why Samsung's upcoming PMP (portable media player) is so common in both aspect and features.

As for how good they are implemented... well, that remains to be seen. Anyway, how about checking out some of its features? It has 8GB of internal flash storage, a 2.7-inche (400 x 240) touchscreen display, TV-out, Bluetooth, FM, games, performs as an e-book reader and supports the MP3, WMA, Ogg, FLAC, and AAC audio formats, as well as MPEG-4, WMV, H.264, Divx, Xvid, and RMVB video.

The touchscreen idea is Ok, I guess, though, honestly, I don't quite care for touchscreens (call me old fashioned). I am not buying a PMP to play with it every second of my life, I am buying a PMP because I need a portable media player that can play music, store it in playlists and stay in my pocket as I go around my daily chores. Therefore, the touchscreen is pretty useless. Anyway, the YP-R1 is obviously not meant for the high-end users but for the lower-end users that want a little high-tech looking gloss to be added to their collection of low-end devices.

While it has the possibility to do great things, I highly doubt that. Oh, and since I read somewhere that this was a Digital Audio Player (DAP), should you read the same thing, know that it isn't. The YP-R1 also plays video, which makes it a Portable Media Player, aka PMP. A PMP that doesn't stand out (at least, from the info we currently have regarding it) but does have the potential to make itself noticed as well

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
