You know, while there are a lot of mobile operating systems out there, it is impossible to satisfy absolutely every user in the world. This is why companies keep upgrading their operating systems or launching new operating systems onto the unsuspecting public hoping that they might catch on better than what has already been proven to work. Companies such as
Samsung for example, which has recently unveiled its very own mobile platform, lovingly dubbed bada.
No, that's not slang for “awesome” but the Korean word for ocean, which is quite a good idea seeing how Samsung has created the new mobile platform with “open” as the driving word. Just like the ocean is full of wonders (most unsuspected), so is bada able to be developed into what the maker hopes will be an enjoyable experience for the common user. Limitless variety of potential applications, as well as the fact that it is open should make this a developer's heaven. Or not, since not all good ideas become palpable, successful ones.
But how about we check out what Dr. Hosoo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Media Solution Center at Samsung Electronics, said about the new bada? “By opening Samsung’s mobile platforms we will be able to provide rich mobile experiences on an increasing number of accessible smartphones. […] bada will be Samsung's landmark, iconic new platform that brings an unprecedented opportunity for operators, developers and Samsung mobile phone users around the world.”
With new hardware such as the 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Tegra technology that allows for the mobile device to display and run games that would trouble low to medium end computers and new mobile platforms like the bada, I am pretty sure that smartphones have yet to show what they can really do and I remain a faithful believer in the fact that
smartphones (with QWERTY keyboards) will kill netbooks.
