With technology advancing so far and so fast, it was just a matter of time until LCD displays would become mainstream. As common and as marketed that they're not enough any more for one to actually make a purchase decision. HD & LED are the keywords of the new trend in LCDs, and that's just the top of the iceberg. So, Samsung announced today the 20.1-inch SyncMaster XL2370, stated as their highest performance display, and the company's first to incorporate LED technology.
The crystal-resembling chassis of the XL2370 with Touch of Colour (ToC) design minimizes reflection and glare. The glossy stand completes the overall smooth design, while the transparent neck gives a slightly nice impression that the display is floating. The space concerned must not worry, because, thanks to the slim profile, you don't even need to change your desk.
Since the XL2370 is built using LED technology, it's economical as well, requiring around 40% less power to operate compared to monitors similar in size. Also, there are no toxic substances like halogen or mercury thanks to the LED backlit unit. ToC manufacturing takes out the harmful paints and sprays increases the monitor' recyclability. The "finger-slim" design reduces transportation costs as well as the carbon footprint.
The mega dynamic contrast ratio is rated at 500.000:1, delivering deep and rich colours with a 2ms (grey to grey) video response time minimizing blur when watching sports or playing games. It offers a native Full HD 1080p resolution so you can enjoy HD content with neat crisp images.
“We expect the XL2370 will open a new era of the LED monitor market,” said JaeYoung Lew of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Division. “Samsung will pave the way in the LED monitor market with beautiful design and superb functionality, while responding to the market needs for eco-friendly technology.”
The SyncMaster XL2370 is out on sale in Korea already with a MSRP of 395 USD.
