If you have taken an interest in SSDs then you definitely heard of SandForce since this company is behind some of the fastest solid storage solution available right now, SandForce taking advantage of IDF 2010 in order to showcase the speedy OCZ RevoDrive X2 SSD that features not one, but four, of their SF-1000 SSD processors.
Available right now in a wide assortment of SSDs targeting laptops, desktop computers, enterprise servers and storage infrastructure solutions, SandForce based drives come in all shapes and sizes, incorporating PCI Express, SAS and
SATA host interfaces with advanced MLC NAND Flash.
“Our unique DuraClass technology is proven to enable industry-leading reliability, performance-per-watt, and performance-per-drive-volume compared to traditional rotating storage media and other solid state controller solutions,” said Kent Smith, Senior Director of Product Marketing for SandForce.
“By enabling both standard and unique form factor solutions with our DRAM-less SSD Processor architecture, SandForce is paving the way for volume deployment of SSDs with industry-standard interfaces including PCI Express, SAS, and SATA – all available in production today from leading SSD manufacturers.”
All this products will be showcased at the Intel Developer Forum, September 13-15, together with 25nm MLC Intel NAND Flash based products.
For enthusiasts the definite star of the show will be the OCZ RevoDrive X2 SSD that features four SandForce SSD processors together with a PCIe x4 interface for high data throughput enabling up to nearly 1TB of storage capacity, over 730MB/s sequential read and/or write performance and over 120,000 random write IOPS for 4KB blocks.
This are definitely some pretty impressive numbers but I am sure the RevoDrive X2 will deliver since the
first generation RevoDrive was a really fast storage solution and the X2 is basically a 4-way RAID configuration, so the performance advertised by SandForce and OCZ can definitely be reached.
