Despite the fact that the market has been literally invaded by a very large number of pico projectors over the recent couple of months, their much larger and a lot more professional counterparts are still pretty popular, and for this reason, Sanyo has just introduced a new product of this type, which, besides supporting FullHD (1080p) output, can also be equipped with an optional HD wireless system, which enables data transmission at distances of up to 30 meters.
First of all, let's talk about this thing's display-related characteristics. Hence, the device can attain a maximum resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels in 16:9 format, with the help of the built-in 0.95-inch DMD chip. Additionally, the brightness level is very impressive as well, since we're talking about 6,500 ANSI lumens, delivered by the projector's 2-lamp system (2 x 330 W UHP lamps), and the same goes for the device's contrast ratio, of 7,500:1.
Since the projector works quite well with no less than six interchangeable lenses, providing detailed information regarding the zoom/focus is rather difficult and space-consuming, but Sanyo does point out the fact that its PDG-DHT100L projector is capable of generating images with diagonal sizes ranging between 50 and 600 inches. The imaging device can hardly be described as “green,” though, since its power consumption reaches a whopping 811W in normal functioning mode and 728W in “eco-mode.”
Sanyo's projector features some more “classic” interfaces, such as D-Sub15 (RGB), HDMI (HDCP), DVI-D (digital/HDCP), Mini DIN 4-pin (S-Video), 5 x BNC (RGBHV/Composite/Y-Pb/Cb-Pr/Cr), LAN, etc. Furthermore, one of the available input slots can be freely configurable with up to seven optional interface boards (where the wireless HD receiver board can be installed).
The Sanyo PDG-DHT100L will become available this month, and, as expected for a professional-grade projector, will be very expensive, since only the body costs around $21,995. The optical HD data Wireless Transmitter will sell for $1,895, while the HD data Wireless Receiver Board that gets installed in the projector costs $895.
