While IP security cameras are really simple to deploy and allow users to check them from virtually anywhere in the world, there are still quite few companies that have invested a lot of money into their analog CCTV security systems, so Scallop Digital developed a special camera that extends their life by delivering non-fisheye, panoramic video across a 180 degree by 48 degree field of view.
Although security cameras aren't really my thing, the A7-180 has really managed to impress me since its 7MP image sensor can deliver a truly outstanding
field of view to its operator (Scallop Imaging saying this has the resolution of 23 standard VGA cameras) while also enabling him (or her) to view three 8X optical zoom detail views in the same frame.
And since the Digital Window A7-180 can deliver images inside a standard NTSC frame it is also compatible with CCTV analog security networks, coming as a true plug-and-play replacement for existing analog cameras.
"While the trend is to adopt
digital IP video, there is a large installed base of analog infrastructure that can benefit from our camera," said Peter Jones, CEO of Scallop Imaging.
"Our unique computational imaging system brings the power of digital to analog systems.
This provides customers with much higher quality video than traditionally available, and dramatically extends the lifetime of their installed analog infrastructure, saving time and money," continued Scallop Imaging's CEO.
The Digital Window A7-180 is available for $1,195, a decent price considering its compatibility with analog CCTV security systems and that impressive 180 degree view.
