As you might have noticed over time, we've got somewhat of a penchant for strange, usually LED-based Japanese watches here at Softpedia, simply because these things tend to exert quite a high level of attraction on pretty much anyone seeing them, despite the fact that reading the time can sometimes be quite an adventure with these things.
Anyway, the latest such product we've managed to come across comes from a company called Sea Hope and offers users a rather unusual feature, namely a touchscreen
LED display. Practically, besides displaying the time using a combo of LED lights, this thing also allows users to set the time or operate the watch using nothing but the screen itself, which is, indeed, something noteworthy.
Additionally, aside from telling the time, this gadget will display six random animations, which act as some sort of screen-saver while the device is not in use. Furthermore, users can choose from the five types of available
LED colors, including orange, red, blue, green.
The Sea Hope LED timepieces are fairly easy to carry around, since they measure 31 x 65 x 14 mm and weigh around 142 grams. They are powered by 2 x CR2032 batteries, and feature a stainless steel body and mineral glass display; unfortunately, they are not waterproof, so don't go for a swim while wearing one of these things.
Although we're talking about a very interesting type of
LED watch, pricing for a unit is not exactly that high (well, at least as far as LED watches are concerned, which are notably more expensive than normal timepieces). Hence, Sea Hope is selling this thing in Japan for around 18,900 Japanese Yen (or about 200 US dollars), which is indeed a pretty hefty price point, especially since western customers will also have to pay some extra shipment fees, unless someone decides to import these babies, of course.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is
