After CES 2009, it became pretty clear that the new trend in LCD HDTVs would include some Internet-related features, most of the new models presented on that occasion being equipped with Ethernet connectors. So, it's no wonder that each new series of LCD TVs that arrives on the market provides such functionality, this also being the case with the latest AQUOS HDTVs from Sharp.
Announced for the time being just in Japan, the new Series 10 of connected HDTVs is divided into three major families, according to the color of the frame. First of all, we've got the Black Series, which includes the LC – 52DS6-B, LC-46DS6-B, LC-40DS6-B and LC-32DS6-B models, followed by the White and Red series (with a similar part number, but a different last letter – W and R, respectively), which are also comprised of 52-inch, 46-inch, 40-inch and 32-inch models.
Besides the Ethernet support mentioned above, the fresh Series 10 devices also sport an advanced new image-improvement technology called “high-quality master engine,” which, according to Sharp, should seriously increase the quality of the video being displayed. As expected, all of the new LCDs from the Series 10 are Full HD compliant, meaning that they support an 1920x1080 pixel resolution.
Furthermore, they sport an improved audio system, which, aside from providing crystal clear, crisp sound, seriously attenuates the audio volume change. Additionally, for aesthetic purposes, the speakers are well hidden in the main body of the TVs.
For the time being, pricing for the fresh Sharp AQUOS Series 10 LCD HDTVs is not known, but this information will most likely become available by June, when the new family of Internet-connected TV sets hits the shelves in Japan, with the rest of the world to follow over the course of 2009.
