Building a mini-ITX gaming
computer is one the coolest things you can do right now, if you are a
gamer that is and LAN parties are your thing, the guys at TechReport accomplishing just that by taking a Gigabyte motherboard and pairing it with
an Intel Core i5-530 and a GeForce GTX 470 graphics in order to build
one compact, but mean, gaming PC.
All this were placed
inside a
Silverstone SG07 small form factor case that comes with a
built-in 600W power supply, that proved to be more then capable of
delivering enough juice for that
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 470 Super
Overclock graphics card included.
Impressive as it may
sound, Silverstone says its case can also accommodate an AMD Radeon
HD5970 graphics card that measures a whopping 12.2 inch (or 310 mm)
in length, so you can get even more graphics power inside it, if this
is what you want.
End of it all, Tech Report
ended up with an impressive shoe sized gaming system that doesn't
even produce all that much noise, setting this up across from the
couch, in the living room, not being a problem at all.
Of course that building
such a
mini-ITX system is not without its caveats since packing it all in such
a small case its pretty fiddly business, requiring you to take pay
close attentions to the order in which you assemble all the
components, but the end result is certainly worthwhile. (
