It really seems that the number of Internet tablets set to arrive on the market in the near future is about to skyrocket, as we're seeing such devices being announced in just about every corner of the world, the latest to do so being the German company Smartbook, who's just released the Surfer Android tablet on its home market.
The Surfer is a
7-inch tablet that runs the
Android 2.1 OS and is equipped with an 800x480 pixels touchscreen display, accompanied by a Telechips TTC8902 720MHz processor, 256MB DDR2 RAM memory and 2GB of NAND FLASH memory for storage purposes.
Naturally, the Android tablet also comes equipped with a WIFI/WLAN 802.11 b/g module, built-in GPS module, and a microSD card slot used for extending the built-in memory.
And since we're on the topic of connectivity, we'll also have to point out that the Surfer sports 2 x USB 2.0 ports and a HDMI interface, used for connecting to a HDTV.
The reason why one might want to connect the Smartbook Surfer to a TV set is related to the number of supported files, which includes WMA, MP3, WAV, OOG, AAC, EAAC files, but also photos in JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG format.
The Smartbook Surfer is fairly easy to carry around, as it measures 186mm x 115mm x 14,6mm and weighs 350g, and will retail for a very interesting 249,00 Euro.
