Sneaky Air Freshener Doubles as Spy Camera

It looks extremely cheap.

I suppose cameras have become so small that they can be fit in almost anything these days. So, if you have the ability to do something, why not do it? At least that seems to be the motto of all these new spy gadgets that have been floating around lately.

The team over at Spycatcher of Knightsbridge provides a type of surveillance device rarely seen before: a camera-hiding air freshener. Although it looks just like your everyday air freshener, the device actually integrates a color 3G camera and microphone, which allows the user to receive live video footage from anywhere a 3G signal is available. However, I might hold off on stating that the streamed video will have both crisp video quality and excellent audio quality. Take a look at a 3G (not HSDPA) feed and get back to me on that.

Modern technology allows users to break free of range-limited devices and take advantage of the full potential of wireless solutions. Such a device allows for lowered risks by eliminating the possibility of being spotted by the target.

The only problem is that the spy device is power limited. It can only stream video for 1.7 hours, after which the battery goes out. Since it would probably look suspicious to have an air freshener plugged into a wall socket, this is somewhat of a problem, because it won't allow users to monitor somebody all day long. There's really no easy way of fixing this, other than using a larger battery.

I'm glad to announce that this little spy gadget costs a “mere” $1,366USD, and from the looks of it, it can only be used once, or until the smelly air freshening stuff runs out. After that, you're left with a cheap camera, a 3G transmitter and a very expensive piece of plastic.
