Since it's one of the world's most important consumer electronics manufacturers, Japanese company Sony really had to come up with some interesting devices at this year's CES in order to both reassure customers and partners regarding its position on the market and show what goodies it has in store for 2009. And one of the most appealing products launched by Sony at this year's International Consumer Electronics Show is the Cyber-shot DSC-G3, which, according to the maker, is the world's first Wi-Fi enabled digital camera that comes packed with a built-in web browser.
Without a doubt, the most innovative and interesting feature the fresh DSC-G3 has to offer is represented by the built-in Wi-Fi module, which allows users to easily connect to the Internet whenever they're in the vicinity of a public hotspot, as well as secured or unsecured access points.
In order to upload photos to the web, all the photographers have to do is simply press the WLAN button, which will automatically activate the built-in Web browser, taking users to the Sony Easy Upload Home Page, which includes direct links to photo sharing sites like Shutterfly and Picasa Web Albums, video sharing sites like YouTube and Dailymotion and photo and video sharing sites, such as Photobucket. Of course, users can easily access other websites as well, should they desire to do so.

Given the fact that, after all, this is a device that targets mostly mainstream photographers, it offers certain features and functions designed especially to automatically improve the quality of the shots. For example, the DSC-G3 sports the Intelligent Scene Recognition feature, which automatically identifies a total of eight types of scenes and automatically adjusts the settings accordingly, as well as Sony's Face Detection technology. Moreover, the device sports an anti-blink function, and Sony’s Smile Shutter technology.
The 10-megapixel Cyber-shot camera has also been equipped with 4X optical zoom Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, plus a Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO) system that determines the best exposure and contrast settings in almost any shooting environment, while balancing the contrast. Moreover, the device sports an Optical SteadyShot image stabilization system, high sensitivity, as well as a Double Anti-blur feature that helps reduce camera shake blur, especially when there is low light.
It's also important to mention that the device offers 4GB of built-in storage space, which can be extended via a Memory Stick card. Furthermore, it incorporates a 3.5-inch, touchscreen enabled Xtra Fine LCD screen, which allows users to easily review photos, as well as control the camera's various functions.
Given its advanced features, it's actually no wonder that the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G3 has a relatively high price point, since it will retail for around 500 US dollars.
