Although, for quite a long time, Japanese company Sony has pretty much completely ignored Apple and its flagship portable product, the iPod, things have changed dramatically over the past two years or so, the former introducing quite a few audio systems and other CE products designed specifically to work with the latter's players. And this is exactly the subject we'll talk about as follows, namely the company's NAS-Z200iR and CMT-Z100iR audio systems, which offer a range of attractive and useful features, all packed within sleek and elegant form factors.
The first model announced by Sony is the NAS-Z200iR, able to deliver multimedia PC streaming via the built-in Wi-Fi module. Listening to Internet radio is also easy and fun directly using your home network and making radio station selection from Z200iR’s remote control. And since we're on the subject, it's worth mentioning that the audio system's remote features a 3.5-inch LCD display and friendly-user interface, as well as a rechargeable battery and a power-saving feature.
With Sony’s audio system, the flexibility is readily there to playback from different sources thanks to the integrated CD player, USB connectivity for a Walkman or any other MP3 player and an audio-in port. The CD player, which will play both audio CD and CD-R/RW discs with MP3 tracks, is discreetly integrated into Z200iR’s sleek design. Plus, the system sports two independent speaker enclosures (20W x 2), with double neodymium magnets being used for the bass drivers.
The second audio system announced by Sony, the CMT-Z100iR, is also svelte and compact, and available not only in glossy black, but also in white. Its features include iPod / CD / USB playback, an AM/FM radio tuner, an audio-in port, 20W x 2 speakers, a remote control and a large display showing the time and selected function.
While no pricing details regarding these new audio systems have been provided, Sony does inform us that the CMT-Z100iR is available in July, but that we'll probably have to wait for the NAS-Z200iR until some point in mid-September.
