Without a doubt, Logitech has managed to take the spotlight as far as Google TV is concerned, but Sony's not far behind, because some very interesting pieces of information regarding the upcoming Google TV – enabled Bravias have just popped up on SonyInsider, one of the most trusted sources in terms of leaks related to Sony's various consumer electronics.
For those of you who're not quite familiar with what Sony's Google TV-enabled Bravias are all about, we'll mention (quite briefly) that this upcoming series of HDTVs, set to be officially revealed to the world on October 12, will come with a built-in Intel CPU and will be able to freely surf the web and access the TV services offered by Google.
Apparently, these future Bravias won't come in a single screen size, with 4 different diagonals being touted as available, namely 24, 32, 40 and 46-inch models (part numbers NSX-24GT1, NSX-32GT1, NSX-40GT1 and NSX-46GT1, according to the aforementioned source).
Unfortunately, while the Bravia HDTVs featuring Google's TV service will, in fact, be next-gen devices, they'll also carry some pretty high price points, ranging between roughly 1,300 US dollars for the entry-level 32-inch model and up to a whopping 1,900 US dollars for the 46 incher.
Given these pretty high price points (as well as the fact that the much more affordable
Logitech Revue solution has already been revealed), it remains to be seen just how many Google TVs Sony will manage to push out, although we're not counting on significantly high numbers, at least not in 2010 and early 2011.
