It's a bit hard to imagine Sony's
PS3 gaming console coming in another color than black (either the rather matte black of the PS3 Slim or the glossy piano black of the original version), but it seems that there were enough people asking for a special edition out there in order to convince Sony to slightly change its views and release a “classic white” version, albeit most likely in a limited edition and, for the time being, available just in Japan.
The model in question is officially called the CECH-2500 and should arrive in stores on Sony's home market starting with July 29'th. And while just about everything about this special model will be white (including the various cables and the
controllers), there's also a downside to it, namely the fact that the storage space will be limited to just 160GB.
Pricing for the all-white model has been set at a cool 34,980 Yen (the equivalent of around 400 US dollars), but even so, we're pretty sure that this model will prove quite successful.
All we can say is that we really hope that
Sony will be kind enough to bring this all-white version to other parts of the world as well, since there are plenty of people around the world who would be very glad to be able to get their hands on a PS3 painted in their favorite color.
