Since the PSP go represents Sony's major push in the field of portable gaming (and for good reason, too, as we've been able to see for ourselves during our short hands-on from IFA 2009 with this console), it was to be expected for the Japanese company to come up with a series of adapters and extras to go with the console and enhance its functionality. And, sure enough, that's exactly what happened, since Sony Computer Entertainment has just announced that it will release a Bluetooth Stereo Head-set Receiver and Converter Cable Adaptor for the PSP go in the coming months.

The Bluetooth Stereo Head-set Receiver will sport a sleek design, matching that of the PSP go, and will allow users to enjoy a variety of entertainment content sounds comfortably through the Bluetooth wireless technology. The device will measure 20.6 x 62.6 x 14.7 mm, weigh around 15 grams, and will be powered by a 170 mAh Li-Ion battery, which will be able to provide a standby time of up to 100 hours and up to six hours of non-stop functioning after around 150 minutes of charging.

Moreover, the headset will use Bluetooth Ver.2.0 + EDR technology and will offer an estimate functioning range of around ten meters. It will also be able to pair easily with the PSP go by simply holding the power button of the Receiver, while the operation buttons on the Receiver will also enable users to instantly play, stop, pause, forward, rewind, and adjust the volume of music and videos. Additionally, the receiver can be paired with up to eight Bluetooth devices by using the Multi Pairing Feature.

Albeit less “glamorous,” the Converter Cable Adaptor also announced by Sony is in fact a very useful device, since it will allow users to utilize the existing peripherals for PSP designed for PSP-1000, 2000 and 3000 series that they already own.

Unfortunately, availability for these accessories is still quite far away, since both are scheduled to hit the shelves across Japan in December, for 4,980 Yen (US$55) and 1,980 Yen (US$21), respectively, with the rest of the world to follow in early 2010.
