Getting tired of reading about all of those HDTVs everyone's revealing for CES? Well, we'll take a short break from high-definition as follows, and we'll talk about Sony's latest announcements in the field of digital cameras, namely the Cyber-shot W210, W220 and S950 digital cameras, a trio of very compact devices targeting mostly those amateur photographers who like style and fashion.
The first two models, the W220 and W210, are, as their name suggests, a part of the company's W series and provide 12.1 effective megapixels, accompanied by a Carl Zeiss lens with 4x optical zoom. Additionally, both models feature the SteadyShot image stabilization system (Optical SteadyShot, in the case of the W220), as well as sensitivity levels of up to ISO 3200.
The two compact cameras also feature 30-mm wide angle lenses, plus a couple of features that are in general quite popular with amateur photographers, such as Smile Shutter and Face Detection functions, as well as an Intelligent Scene Recognition system, which automatically adjusts the settings according to the environment conditions for optimum results. Photos can be very easily reviewed on the device's 2.7-inch wide LCD display.
Last, but not least, we'll also mention that both models from the W series are available in several color options, namely silver, black, pink and blue for the W220 and silver, black, pink and green for the W210.
The S950 model, on the other hand, is more of an entry-level camera, featuring a 10.1 effective megapixel resolution and a 4x zoom lens. Other interesting features (especially for newbies) are the six easy-to-use Scene Selection modes, as well as the Easy Shooting mode. Plus, similarly to the fresh Cyber-shot cameras from the W series, the S950 also sports a Face Detection system, image stabilization compensation and a maximum level of sensitivity of up to ISO 3200.
No pricing details have been provided for the time being for either the S950 (which, by the way, is available in silver, pink and black) or the W210 (which, apparently, will only be available in Europe), but we do know that the W220, also slated to be available in the US, will sell for around 190 US dollars when it arrives in stores over the course of February 2009.
