The military is slowly turning soldiers into Predator-like creatures that have dreads on their heads and write messages from the bio-keyboard that is attached to their left hand. Or maybe I am imagining things again and the soldiers are just using an iKey customized wearable keyboard that they have built for SpecOps. Yeah, that's it, SpecOps Systems has designed another rugged, wearable computer peripheral that just suits soldiers' needs perfectly, especially when war gets boring.

"We saw that iKey had experience with the military and they had a unit similar to what we wanted," said Caroline Tucker, Executive Vice President of Sales and Business Development for SpecOps Systems. "The thing that impressed us the most about iKey was that we told them what we needed, and quickly had a conference call to discuss the details. Literally, within 24 hours, we had a prototype drawing. It was this focus on the customer that led us to go with iKey rather than any other vendor – we knew we had found a vendor who embraced our requirements."

Meeting MIL-461 requirements and designed in the harshest of EMI (electro magnetic interference) environment, the KYB-170-OEM keyboard will be a loyal friend of the field soldier that can now input data without being incapacitated in any way by technology.

This keyboard doesn't allow accident keystrokes as it comes with a strap-on faceplate and there is a night vision configuration possible as well. Fit for both right and left-hand users, the 17-key keypad has an integrated FSR (Force Sensing Resistor) and will cover for all the needs of a user that wears gloves. This keypad will be employed together with the WC2 system that SpecOps has developed.

The wearable typing machine is built according to NEMA 4X standards, which makes it highly resistant to almost all natural factors that can cause harm to such a delicate piece of technology.
