Jedi drivers rejoice as the TomTom GPS manufacturer is delivering a very geeky voice package for their navigation systems, namely the voices of characters from Star Wars. Don't know whether you would like to have Darth Vader grumble directions to you while you are traveling through an unfamiliar galaxy or city, but if you are the fan of Star Wars and also happen to own a TomTom GPS gadget, then you simply must have this package installed on it.
This marketing technique for the slowly fading away GPS systems is not new, as
other manufacturers of orientation gimmicks have brought celebrity voices to their PNDs, as you probably well know. So, if you are not that much into Snoop Dogg or the general Hip-Hop phenomenon, you might prefer the geeky Star Wars Voices to guide you on your trips. But it's all good, as I am sure most of you are tired of the usual boring voices you regularly hear on these devices.
The first voice available on
TomTom sat-nav gadgets is that of Darth Vader, the negative character form the series that comes with its very own background image, but I am sure Master Yoda will be the highlight product form this series. I am saying series, as the company will release more voices during the months to come, including C-3PO in June, Yoda in July and Han Solo in August.
The price for a cool Star Wars voice on your GPS is the equivalent of 7.95 pounds sterling and it is really worth it if you listen to the samples on the official website. You can also subscribe there in order to be informed as soon as new voices are available for download and I am sure this voice changing technique on GPS devices will eventually cover all major Hollywood productions and the music business. May the Force be with you!
