It's not exactly the first time that we wonder just who's going to purchase a gold-plated version of an otherwise pretty ordinary device, but it seems that Super Talent believes that they'll find some interested customers, since they've just released the Pico-C Special Edition 64GB flash drive, that comes with 24K gold plating.

Apart from the thin layer of gold applied on its surface, the Pico-C drive isn't that much different from the other models in the Pico-C series, measuring 31.3mm x 12.4mm x 3.4mm and weighing just around 6 grams.

The device also offers some pretty decent data transfer rates (30MB/s (200X) Seq. Read and 15MB/s (100x) Seq. Write), while being fully compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 interfaces (sadly, nothing's been mentioned about a possible USB 3.0 compatibility).

The Pico-C Special Edition 64GB flash drive is also rugged and water resistant, while its capless design makes it extremely easy to use.

The Pico-C Special Edition 64GB flash drive from Super Talent is now available for pre-order, the price point being a fairly OK one (given the whole gold-plating thing and all), since we're talking about somewhere in the vicinity of 172 Euro.
