As some of you might know (especially those of you who are simply in love with high-end watches manufactured by some of the best-known names in the industry), one of the most important events in this field is taking place as we speak, namely the Baserworld 2009 show. There, the biggest names in watchmaking come to parade their latest creations, and that's exactly what Tag Heuer is doing, the company rolling out, among other very interesting timepieces, the Monaco Calibre 12 Chronograph Gulf Limited Edition, which, as the name says it, will most likely become a very hot item for collectors across the world, since it's available solely in a 5,000-piece limited edition.

The fresh limited edition collection has been designed in order to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Steve McQueen’s special-edition Monaco line of watches, as well as to mark TAG Heuer’s new partnership with Gulf.

As expected from such a high-end timepiece, the design of this limited edition watch is absolutely amazing. Hence, it sports an elegant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal front and back, while the movement mechanism, the TAG Heuer Calibre 12 Automatic Chronograph Movement, is a high-performance, all-Swiss engine based on the Dubois Depraz 2008.

The larger (39mm) case gives the watch a more contemporary look, while the orange and blue meteor dial design, inspired by the Porsche Gulf 917K driven by Steve McQueen in Le Mans, expresses its professional racing heritage. The watch also sports a vintage “Gulf” logo and date window at 6 o’clock, small second at 3 and chronograph minute at 9, not to mention a stylish gray alligator strap with stitching.

The company has not provided any pricing information regarding this amazing new watch, but the respective data should become available at some point in September 2009, when this watch is scheduled to arrive in stores.
