I'm not sure just how many of you have ever heard about TV-B-Gone and/or the (in)famous CES 2009 incident (or was it 2008, I don't really remember that well) involving this uber-powerful remote control, a certain Gizmodo blogger and some displays on which some of the attendees were trying to hold their presentations. If you had, then you might just imagine what a tool such as the TV-B-Gone Pro would be able to accomplish.
According to ThinkGeek, who's selling this very powerful
universal remote control, the TV-B-Gone Pro looks like a small mp3 player, but contains eight infrared emitters that will turn off 90% of TVs in any country in the world. With the
touch activated switch, users will be able to turn off any TV within a matter of seconds. It even has an instant reactivation feature so they will be able to switch off many TVs in quick succession.
Furthermore, unlike the basic model, which had a limited range, the Pro can be used from distances of up to 110 meters, which means that it can really create some chaos, if that's the user's intention. The
device can be used in a “stealth” mode and comes with a rechargeable battery, while also being fairly easy to carry around (it measures just 2.75 x 2.06 x 0.26 inches).
The TV-B-Gone Pro sells for somewhere in the vicinity of 50 US dollars, which is a small-enough price point to make it extremely interesting for pretty much every prankster out there.
