Last time we reported about Tegatech's Windows 7 running, Atom powered slate we didn't had much to many info to share with you regarding pricing or availability, but we now have a shipping date for this Australian-built tablet device that is bound to hit North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand on October 12.
Hardware and software wise, not many things have changed from our last report, this slim and light tablet packing the same 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor together with 1GB of DDR3 memory and 10.1 inch capacitive multi-touch display that should be able to offer an OK
Windows 7 experience.
However, if Windows 7 is not your cup of tea, Tegatech also provides their customers with a free of charge download of the Android 1.6 .ISO, together with install instructions and all the necessary drivers to get things started, the company working to release Android 2.1 and 2.2 in the near future for the Tega v2.
Other features include up to 64GB of storage space, a 0.3MP of 1.3MP camera, WiFi and Bluetooth, 3G, Wimax and Wibro connectivity being also available as optionals.
Apart from the two USB slots and SD card reader included, Tegatech also added a mini-HDMI output to the Tega V2, the company saying their
tablet is able to display 1080p video content although I somehow question their logic since this thing uses an integrated Intel GMA 3150 graphics card that usually struggles with such high resolutions.
According to the Australian company, battery life is somewhere in the vicinity of five hours, so although Tegatech compares this with Apple's iPad, the two seem worlds apart when it comes down to autonomy.
Unfortunately, we still don't have a price for this thing, but there isn't that much time until October 12 when thew Tega v2 will most definitely come to a retailer near you (at least I hope so).
