Wow, there are so many projectors being introduced lately that one can have a hard time telling which is which. Thankfully, there are some that tend to stand out from the crowd. Especially those that will be using Texas Instruments' latest DLP Cinema 4K chip, a follow-up to the well-known DLP Cinema 2K chips that are currently used worldwide by companies such as Barco, Christie Digital or NEC.
Projectors equipped with the latest Cinema 4K chip will be able to provide precise DCI compliant colors, contrast ratios that are far superior to the 2K, as well as a light output that allows a crisp clear image even if the projector is used in huge auditoriums. Oh, and guess what, by using it, you'll be able to project your image on theater screens that are a much as 100 feet in size or 3D screens that are up to 75 feet big.
Kent Novak, senior vice president and general manager of DLP Products, declared that “Texas Instruments is proud of its contributions to the cinema industry and is absolutely committed to further innovation through DLP Cinema. […] DLP Cinema remains dedicated to its customers, and through shipping millions of units we are able to provide a significantly lower cost structure in comparison with our competitors.”
This next generation DLP Cinema platform is said to work with over eight server solutions seamlessly, as well as with multiple 3D platforms. I'll leave Cinemark’s chief executive officer, Alan Stock, with the ending, “Based on our decade of experience with DLP Cinema technology, its unmatched reliability has made it our exclusive platform of choice for 4K deployments. With no limitations on resolution, DLP Cinema allows Cinemark to truly deliver the highest-quality image to our customers.”
