I wonder how long it will be until
texting starts being considered a drug. I mean, just think about it... texting has become a new way of communication, especially with teens. There was a time when “I seem to be able to express myself only in writing” was a romantic notion, the sign of a deep person who had problems expressing his or her feelings due to shyness. Nowadays, everyone writes, everyone texts, no one communicates.
And to make things worse, there are even devices that allow us to read received messages and even
text new ones. Devices such as the TextHook, “a dashboard for your mobile life,” as GoldPerl puts it. Mobile life indeed since it is very probable that this is the only type of life you have, if texting is so important to you that you cannot stop doing it even when riding a bike or driving a car. Sure, you might find yourself not seeing that truck coming your way but hey... at least, you got to twitter your accident.
The TextHook has a strap-on design meaning that it can fasten quickly to the handlebar of your stroller, exercise equipment, shopping cart or bicycle. Just think about how cool you will look when you go shopping and have this device strapped to your shopping cart. Or maybe you are talking to your friend on the phone and remember that pesky baby of yours and the fact that you haven't been with him or her to the park in a while.
You put the kid in the baby carriage, strap on the TextHook, and start texting. Ignore the fact that the baby is crying, you have messages to send! If this is what the world is turning into, I have only one thing to say: watch Surrogates!
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
