Have you ever used your mobile phone while walking and didn't see that big, open manhole in front of you? I had a girlfriend once that was talking to me and hit a pole but then again I was 16 and wasn’t interested in her for her knowledge of Einstein's theories. I am pretty sure that she would have noticed an open manhole, though. Since this is not manhole day and there aren't a lot of manhole-related gadgets in the world, this is a story about a girl, a mobile phone, a sewer and the “gross” factor.
I swear to God if someone had told me this, I would have thought he or she was making fun of me. Never would I have imagined that someone could be so airheaded to fall into a manhole, Oliver and Hardy style. I mean, come on, texting while walking? Never watching the road? She had it coming! You know when you realize the education system is not good? When a 15-year-old teen falls into a manhole because she wasn't looking at the road. That's when you know you've got a huge problem on your hands!
According to MSNBC, Alexa Longueira was walking around like any normal teen, texting her friends, unaware that although the feet continue moving as long as you flex your leg muscles, they do not have special sensors that make seeing where you step an obsolete and unnecessary activity. I know, you will say I am being mean.
What did the teen have to say? Well not a lot, nothing of importance, anyway. I really liked the family, though. They are preparing a lawsuit because, well, the fact that the teen was texting and never paid attention to the road is not important, the open manhole did it! Yep, for some reason, this gets me thinking about those people who drive their cars off cliffs because their GPS told them to. Or that
girl who refused to stop texting in class. Or the
subway train driver that was texting while driving. Or a lot
others.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
