It's a well-known fact that most gadget lovers out there are also avid comic readers. The problem with all the eBook readers that have appeared up until now is that most of them (as in “the affordable ones”) display only black and white images. And reading your favorite DC or Marvel comic in black and white tends to lose it's appeal, don't you think?
That's what Fujitsu thought too, since it decided to finally release the general consumption-meant FLEPia, the first color eBook for the general public. Or so it says, because slapping a whopping price of around 1.010 USD in a time of crisis (no matter the country or continent, we are all in the same boat) won't bring Fujitsu a lot of new fans.
But hey, the fact that we'll probably never afford spending so much money on a color eBook reader from Fujitsu doesn't mean we can't write or read about it, right? Thus, the FLEPia features an 8-inch XGA screen displaying 260.000 colors. It has Bluetooth connection, Wi-Fi, 4GB of storage via SD card. It is said to provide 40 hours of continuous use (that's really impressive) and, of course, has a touchscreen display for easier navigation.
With an e-ink refresh time of 1.8 seconds (some might call it rather slow but I think it's practical) and a pretty cool look, this device would be perfect if it wasn't for the high pricing. As for its eBook’s reading capabilities, Fujitsu made sure that the FLEPia reads PDF, TXT , HTML, JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other e-book formats.
This 385g gadget is the perfect thing for comic lovers out there, especially when they are at work slacking or somewhere in the outdoors and not being able to catch a good night's sleep!
