Also present at InfoComm 2010, the specialists in home theater accessories Gefen are showing the world their new line of useful adapters for HDMI v1.3-based entertainment centers. The manufacturers call this fresh family of products the ToolBox, including accessories that will let users switch to a wall mounted system in a very adaptive way.

The Toolbox contains more products and all have a special function, which allows for easy wall-mounting of your current rack-deployed system. These adapters will grant access to all of their connectors and you'll also find there is a 3DTV extender for HDMI v1.3. In fact, I'll start with the Gefen 3DTV Extender from the ToolBox series. It offers extra long range signal and consists of a pair of sender/receiver units. What you can do with this product is get 3DTV to up to 100m (330 feet) away from the HDMI v1.3 source using only one CAT-5 cable. Very capable tool, indeed.

The company also has a new switcher at InfoComm 2010, which rolls together four sources to one single display. The 4 x 1 Switcher for HDMI v1.3 ($199) allows users to activate the switch through an IR remote controller, RS-232, or a local front panel selector.

There are four more tools in the “box,” two Matrixes and two Splitters. The splitters are divided themselves into one 1:8 solution ($499) and one capable of delivering a signal to only 4 sources. The two Matrixes will be a 4 x 2 and a 4 x 4 model ($849 dollars), all, of course, for HDMI v1.3. The Matrixes can take any four sources and deliver them to one or more screens in your home theater system.

Gefen says that all the gimmicks in the ToolBox line lay next to Six-foot HDMI cables, which sport the ability to lock the HD signal in order to prevent disconnections while in the field. The tools will support Dolby TrueHD, DTS Master Audio and other high-end technologies nowadays forming a competent entertainment center.
