For some time now, the rumor mill has been spinning its wheels at the speed of light and fabricated a lot of tales regarding a certain device that you most definitely have read about at least once. Yes, I am most definitely referring to the Google Phone. A new device that seems to come from none other than
HTC, with a lot of improvements both in terms of specifications, as well as regarding the operating system that it will use.
Starting with the name and ending with the operating system, nothing is known about the Google Phone. Whether it is going to be named Phone 88, as some leaked photos show, or Nexus One, as the EXIF data on the pictures mentions, no one knows. Who knows, maybe it will be called Google Phone and those are just code names to be used during its development. For now, everything is possible. Next come the specifications.
The phone appears to sport the same design as the HTC Dragon and will probably be featuring
a Snapdragon platform (aka 1GHz processor), 3.7-inch AMOLED display, 5-megapixel camera and will not come with a QWERTY physical keyboard. Why am I so sure about it? Well, I am not except that this is the standard configuration for most Snapdragon-based mobile devices and especially for the HTC Dragon.
There are also a lot of rumors regarding the operating system that it uses. Some say that it may be a new, very improved version of Android. I have to tell you that from the pictures, this looks like Android 2.0.1 but I couldn't tell you for sure until I have seen it for myself. I mean, it could be changed and employ the same user interface, right? All we can really do now is sit and wait... I guess.
