I've dedicated the first hours of this day to writing gaming or console-related articles. No boring identical configuration netbooks, notebooks and such. But all good things come to an end. So, let's end it in style, shall we? And nothing is as stylish for a gamer than looking back at where it all began.
The Nintendo Entertainment System has received a new portable version that is not only portable but also doubles as a normal console. The FC Mobile II handheld and home game system is able to dock and play all your old (and huge by today's standard) cartridges on the move or in the warmth of your very own living room.
The portable handheld system has a 2.5-inch LCD screen, and also two wireless controllers and a wireless gun controller in order to successfully double as a home gaming system. After all, what's better than playing Duck Hunt in your bedroom? Perhaps a quick game of tetris! Oh, the memories. However, the system has a very serious problem that plagues most console remakes: the human factor.
Although I still play NES games (via PC emulator), I don't have one single NES cartridge left, having thrown most of them away a long time ago. An SD expansion slot or some internal memory and USB connection would have made this console perfect, especially since earlier versions of the FC Mobile are selling for around 40 USD, and this one will probably be priced somewhere around that sum. The FC Mobile II would be the perfect retro gaming platform... if I had any games for it.
Too bad the company that made this didn't exactly think “wait a second, it's 2009... what's the chance that someone would actually have any cartridges left?”
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is
