This next device is very likely to be familiar, liked and adored by both hi-fi aficionados and people that go for the
retro style at home. Inspired by the vintage Z560M Nixie tubes used in the former East-Germany, by the mid 20th century as numeric displays, with the Nixie Concrete Clock, what you see is what you get.
Designed by Luxembourgian designer Daniel Kurth, the concrete clock is actually a reinforced rough concrete block that embeds the shiny orange Nixie tubes. The strong link of this design fools the eye with what is new and old, by using a well thought combination of components and materials. All of the components that you find inside the fully functional concrete clock are assembled by hand.
Another nice thing about it is that it doesn't remind you constantly about the time, letting you enjoy the
warm colored light that comes from it - thanks to the rearrangement of the display and making it easy to be watched for its aesthetic value. Intentionally looking at the time, you can notice it says 10:28:09.
The technical specifications say it has two-hour settings for 12 or 24 hour mode, an astonishing 244 cable connection inside, 200,000 hours of tube lifespan. It takes its power from the 12V AC adapter included in the package, while the eco-saver will automatically dim the tubes. The concrete clock will also auto detect 1Hz, 50Hz or 60Hz clock pulses input modes.
The reinforced hand-made concrete body weighs no less than 1.5Kg, it is hand-made and sure not to be broken when waking you up in the morning - best thing is that when waking up you have no chance of lifting a thing - so nothing can happen to it. No pricing released as of yet for this one.
