Since living beings all draw their powers from the “outdoors,” whether we are talking about sunshine, air or anything else, gadgets are now being built in a similar way, depending on their user's outdoor time in order for them to function properly. Like this new Pathfinder watch from Casio for example, which will work as long as there is
solar energy charging it and does not stay wrapped in anything else than recyclable packages.
“We’re very excited to welcome this new eco-friendly timepiece to the Pathfinder line,” said Shigenori Itoh, vice president of Casio’s Timepiece Division. “Casio is a company dedicated to supporting eco-friendly initiatives and we are very proud to introduce this solar-powered watch in conjunction with the celebration of Earth Day."
PAG110C-3 has all the rugged features of the Pathfinder series, but it will be introduced in April, it seems, during the company's “Go Green” spring collection of watches. Solar charging is done with the help of the Tough Solar
technology, which will decrease battery consumption by drawing the power it needs in order to function directly from sunlight.
As you probably know, the Pathfinder series is a versatile one, making regular watches seem like untrained soldiers compared with it. Though this might seem a little tree-hugging-like from the start, don't underestimate it as it has a barometer, thermometer, altimeter and even a digital compass. It is resistant to low temperatures, and will even give you the exact time in 30 cities around the world at a 100-meter water depth.
It will be available exclusively through Amazon for $250. Unfortunately, Casio will only sell this model of Pathfinder in green, making you a laughing matter among your rugged
outdoorsman friends who carry a regular Pathfinder watch.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
