Wearable technology is either too geeky to handle or too practical to resist. The Aniomagic weight sensitive backpack is not in the latter category, but rather an LED powered back any geek would gladly and proudly wear out on the street. There is a smart system that animates the LEDs as long as there is something in the backpack and the whole thing can be put up in the comfort of your own home, as a fun DIY project.
There is no better way to decorate your clothing/accessories than with some cool technology, especially if you are not the type of person who regularly watches the Fashion channel. Of course, this backpack using Aniomagic's smart eTextiles is just an idea about its uses and the ways in which you can express yourself with this wearable tech are various.
The other key component used when designing this weight sensing backpack was the Schemer web interface on an iPhone, which is the way you will be controlling and calibrating the little system after it is implemented onto a piece of clothing. A much more simple project than the email-reading t-shirt, this smart pack will light up anytime you wish, with random flashing patterns, while also being able to “guess” the total weight it holds.
The force sensor does the weight guessing and I say guess because it is not able to detect the net weight you carry in your bag. It is one of the main components of this system and the other things you will need are schemer, lightboards, a sensor board, felt battery holder, large battery and conductive thread. It seems like a project my grandma could do as well, and you have all the information needed, with pictures and everything, on Aniomagic. You can read more about this special backpack on ubergizmo.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
