We're pretty accustomed to seeing quite a lot of quirky accessories for
Apple's products in general and the iPad in particular being rolled out onto the market, but most of them are fairly portable (given the inherent portable nature of the devices they're designed to accessorize). However, the iDrawer from SmartDesks is really something else, since we're talking about a
specially-designed piece of furniture, that will keep the iPad under lock and key.
The iDrawer has a very heavy steel construction with powder-coated finish in white, black or titanium, thus ensuring quite an impressive level of security for the iPad stored within. Furthermore, users will have enough space inside for the Apple tablet, but also for various other devices, since the interior volume is of 12 x 9 x 2 inches.
Inside the Security drawer, 110VAC power outlets and a 10 watt USB power outlet lets users connect iPad for charging without the Apple transformer. Furthermore, the storage
solution also sports a telecom plate that can be populated with any connector of the user's choosing, including here RJ-45, USB, Firewire, audio, stereo, etc.
The iDrawer from SmartDesks is designed for institutional use in schools, colleges, universities, hotels, hospitals, just about anywhere mobile devices need to be stored temporarily and charged. Unfortunately, no pricing details are immediately available, but if you're interested in this very secure storage solution for the iPad, you can contact the company directly for a quotation.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
