I bet you have heard of the iPad until now, you already know what it does, how it works, how it looks and how it has been
“modded” so far, which is why you have already decided whether you want one or not. If you do want an iPad and you are not an American, then you are in the same cloud of fog as everyone else regarding the official release date.
What we know is that Americans could pre-order since March 12 (
which they indeed did) and that in the States, it will be available on April 3, at least this is clear, but for the rest of the world, all that Apple said was “
late April.”
The iPadinCanada website has some fresh information about this matter and what the company could have meant by “late April,” as they got a tip from a source very close to the Apple Store, which says that on April 24, Apple will declare a “black out period.” This is a company policy, which does not allow any employee of an Apple Store to take that period of time off and this usually happens during major events, like product releases, for example.
Whether this “black out period” has been applied only for the Apple Stores in Canada, we can't say, but this might very well be the date of the iPad launch in the rest of the world. This might also mean that a pre-order should be available very soon, so keep an eye out on the Apple Store website.
Hope the source of
iPadinCanada is a good one and this news actually proves to be useful for anxious iPad fans. Otherwise, it would just be another speculation. Until we know for sure, you can also enjoy other rumors concerning Apple.
For instance, the one about the multitasking abilities of the Apple OS 4.0. This is, of course, coming as big news, because the current version of their OS cannot do multitasking. Or better said, it is restricted, though the capabilities exist in the system. The technology, which will allow Apple gadgets, like the iPad, to do multitasking, is called Expose and was patented by Apple back in 2005. They say that simply by double-tapping the home button, all your applications running in the background will pop up so that you can choose the one you want to use. You can read all about it on
