It really seems that GPS manufacturer TomTom is keen on having a pretty large lineup of new products ready for December, a period when most people will most likely forget the fact that the economic crisis is still not completely over and will start spending more than they did in the previous months, in order to get ready for Christmas. So,
introducing two new PNDs yesterday, TomTom is back with yet another product, the TomTom XXL World Traveler Edition, a special version of the
XXL 540S that features a 5-inch display and comes pre-loaded with maps of the U.S., Canada and Europe.
The sleek, black PND also sports TomTom's proprietary IQ Routes Technology, accompanied by the company's Map Share technology, which allows users to instantly modify street names, the street direction, the points of interest and more on their device, as well as benefit from corrections made by others.
Additionally, the device also delivers Advanced Lane Guidance for realistic representations of complex highway junctions and lane-specific visual directions that take the stress out of navigating these otherwise challenging areas.
Furthermore, the TomTom XXL World Traveler Edition stores up to seven million POIs within its internal, 4GB memory, which are also used for storing the maps mentioned above.
“TomTom’s XXL products have been well received by consumers for their large, clear displays. The TomTom XXL 540S World Traveler Edition, in particular, appeals to globetrotters who appreciate a wide screen, a sleek design and the assurance that their routes are always the most efficient regardless of their destination,” Jocelyn Vigreux, president of TomTom Inc., said. “With the introduction of the World Traveler Edition, TomTom continues to expand its product offerings to meet our customers’ diverse navigation needs.”
The new
TomTom XXL 540S World Traveler Edition will hit the shelves across the United States and Canada in early December, the estimated price point being set at around USD349.95 (or CAD399.95), which, by all accounts, is not that bad, if we take a quick look at this thing's specs and features.
