Since the Consumer Electronics Show is just about to start, it's no wonder that pretty much every important consumer electronics manufacturer is throwing its latest products in the spotlight in order to attract visitors’ attention and, at the same time, let would-be customers know exactly what they should expect in 2009. That's also the case with Toshiba, who has just unveiled its LCD HDTV offering for CES, including no less than eight new models, divided among the XV645, ZV650 and SV670 series.

The first thing that must be mentioned about the fresh REGZAs is their very attractive design. Thus, Toshiba has developed the new Deep Lagoon Design, which will serve as the design identity for all of the REGZA models, and provides a dimensional feeling to a clean flat design. Furthermore, Toshiba's SV670 Series also features the fresh Infinity Flush Front, which consists of a single sheet of glass with anti-reflective coating covering the entire front of the TV.

Even if the design is important, the truth of the matter is that image processing and displaying features are crucial for HDTVs to be successful. For this reason, the REGZA HDTVs come equipped with Toshiba's fifth generation engine, PixelPure 5G, as well as the Resolution+ super resolution technology, which improves 480i, 480p, and even 720p image detail for higher video quality when watching DVDs, TV channels, camcorder videos or even video games that output less than Full HD.

Moreover, the new REGZAs will also sport Toshiba's ClearScan 240 technology, which combines an advanced 120Hz scan rate with Toshiba's fresh Backlight Scanning technology to create a 240Hz effect. Additionally, these LCD HDTVs will feature a system called FocaLight LED Backlight with Local Dimming, allowing the LEDs to be controlled by zone, creating a significantly higher dynamic contrast ratio.

The connectivity department has also been improved in the case of these REGZA LCDs, since they now come equipped with InstaPort technology for faster HDMI switching, an enhanced version of the REGZA-LINK, plus USB Ports and SD Cards in select models.

Although pricing details have been kept confidential, Toshiba did provide the launch roadmap, the REGZA 40XV645U, 46XV645U and 52XV645U being scheduled to arrive in May 2009, followed by the REGZA 42ZV650U, 47ZV650U and 52ZV650U in April and the REGZA 46SV670U and 55SV670U in May 2009.
